Some of the most search terms according to Google Trends globally in this segment are ‘best electric car 2019, electric car prices, electric car charging, and electric cars India’. It means interest in EVs growing rapidly.
Tesla and Nissan's electric cars are leading the EV space, at least in terms of online searches. Though the Tesla Model 3 is yet to enter the Indian market it tops the search queries in the country.
Here’s a quick look at the top 10 electric cars according to Google Searches in 2019 so far:
1. Tesla Model 3
The Tesla Model 3, with more than 15million searches, is currently the most searched and most popular electric car in the world. It amassed more than 54 percent of searches related to electric cars.
The car is known for its performance as it delivers a top speed of 220 kilometers per hour (kmph). It comes with instant acceleration where it can go from 0 to 100 kmph in 5.6 seconds. The Tesla 3 has all modern auto amenities like Wi-Fi connectivity, dual-zone climate control, and auto parking navigation.
The Elon Mask Company is dealing with some criticism on delayed deliveries. Earlier, the company had promised its customer deliveries in March or April, but now they are rescheduled for July 28.
2. Tesla Model S
Tesla Model S is another EV car from Musk’s company which is really popular among masses. It has been searched for more than 5 hundred thousand times. The car is full of the latest technology with cameras, inbuilt music streaming services, and even a sketchpad for those who get bored while traveling.
Uniquely, the car looks like a hatchback but has a truck front and its handles draw back into the car automatically. Like Model 3, the Tesla S has a keyless unlocking and as you take a position on driver’s seat and close the door, the car will turn on ignition automatically and visa-Versa.

3. Nissan Leaf
The Nissan Leaf is a hatchback electric car from the Japanese automobile maker. The Leaf car debuted in the market before Tesla. However, initially, Nissan offered it only in limited numbers. Earlier this year, Nissan came out with a revamped version of Nissan Leaf which is more powerful and has a more power-efficient system in place that results in a better range.
In comparison to the Tesla Model 3, the Nissan Leaf is much cheaper as its basic variant retails for $30,885 or ₹2.1 million (₹21 lakh).

Chevrolet Bolt is another EV that is getting plenty of searches online. General Motors’ first introduced Bolt in 2016 and earlier this year upgraded it with new features like tire air pressure monitor and a new smartphone app.
The Bolt comes with 60kwh lithium-ion battery pack which is estimated to last 238 miles. The powerhouse at the heart of Chevrolet Bolt can produce 200hp which allows it to clock 0-60 in 6.5 seconds. The recent upgrade also introduced distance indicators, front pedestrian braking and ‘lane keep assist’ features.
8. Hyundai Kona Electric
The popularity of Hyundai Kona Electric has picked up steam since its launch in India. The South Korean car maker’s first electric SUV retails which claims to deliver 452Km mileage on a full charge.
The Kona EV offers three drive modes Eco, Comfort, and Sports. It can generate 136PS max power and 40.27kgm torque. Hyundai says Kona can clock 0-100kmph in just 9.7s. Hyundai in partnership with Indian Oil is going to set up fast-charging stations in top four cities Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, and Bengaluru.
9. Kia Soul 2019 EV
Kia Soul 2019 EV is another that you will be hearing a lot of in the coming days. The gets a 64kwh lithium-ion battery which is liquid-cooled.
Like Kona, it also has four driving modes - Eco, Normal, Sports and Eco+. In sports mode, it can achieve max speed of 160kmph and can go 0-100kmph in 7.6 seconds only. The car can refill battery up to 80 percent in an hour and 15 minutes using DC fast charge.
10. Jaguar I-Pace
Tata Motors subsidiary Jaguar too has made rapid strides in EV space as they have their I-Pace premium electric car making headlines. The Jaguar I-Pace has won quite a few awards this year starting from World Car of the Year 2019 to Car Design of the year 2019.
It is one of the most powerful EVs in the list as it can accelerate 0-100 in 4.8secs. The I-Pace is an all-wheel-drive electric car that can deliver instant torque. It comes with 90kWh lithium-ion battery offers 470Km range and supports 50Kw rapid charging technology.
